BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

Belief in yourself and in your capabilities is an attitude that you build up with time. Although it helps to have supportive parents and peers to build your self-esteem, they are not necessary ingredients. In fact most successful people in the world came from dysfunctional families with no support whatsoever. At some point, they just decided that ‘the past does not equal the future,’ and they made a choice to believe in themselves and in their future. Continue reading

HOW TO FAIL SUCCESSFULLY

We are always looking for ways to succeed. We focus our thoughts and our energy on finding new ways to reach the wonderful land of “success.” But, success is not a destination. It’s a feeling you get while pursuing your vision in life. And because of that, the real question is not how do we succeed, but rather how to stay on track —  moving toward our life’s vision even when obstacles show up on the way. Continue reading

LIVE IN THE PRESENT…

As I was writing last week’s Monday Morning, my oldest son (age 8) walked by my desk and asked what I was writing. So I explained to him the concept behind this weekly newsletter. He listened, and then asked me, “Does it really help them?” I told him that you cannot change people. Every person is unique. The whole idea of coaching is to open people’s minds to different ideas and ways of looking at things, but it’s up to each individual to apply what he (or, she) learns. Continue reading

You cannot change your feelings unless you know what they are. Sometimes we are so overwhelmed by our negative feelings that we cannot even identify them. Try to step back and ask yourself, “What am I really feeling right now?”  “Am I just feeling anger or is there a feeling of fear underlying the anger?” Continue reading

In order to get to where you want to be, you have to change. You must take control of your thought patterns because the same pattern of thinking that got you where you are now will not get you where you want to go. Continue reading

THE SECRET TO PERSUADING OTHERS…

When two people meet there are always two agendas in play. Whoever is more persuasive will control the agenda.

When you’re calling or meeting a new prospect, their agenda is to stay on guard and not let you get them to make a decision that they might regret later. Continue reading

I WANT TO FEEL GOOD

All the money in the world is spent on feeling good” – Ry Cooder.

Pleasure and feeling good is what keeps the economy going. It’s what allows companies to come out with new products every day, and still find customers — because people are constantly looking for ways to feel good and have pleasure. On the other hand, the drive to feel good and to have pleasure is also the cause for trouble and misery. People consistently make bad choices because “it” feels good at the moment or “it” gives us temporary pleasure. Continue reading
